Frogs and Toads

Frogs and toads are  fascinating animals, but they have some specific needs when keeping them at home.  Frogs and toads come in all shapes and sizes, and their basic needs vary significantly from species to species.  Usually 20 gallons are a great size tank to start with.  Regardless of the species, you will need a tank with a lid with a safe substrate for the frog or toad.  A good substrate is coco husk or sphagnum moss.  There are other substrates but check first with a breeder to make sure it is safe for the frogs. You will need to keep the environment moist and they will need a non-spill container for water.  They love to soak. Frogs and toads will need to have a variety of live feeder insects, such as crickets, meal worms or roaches. You will also need to dust the food with a calcium supplement.
