Hamsters

Hamsters need a good sturdy cage with plenty of air flow. About 24" x 12" is a good size of a cage (about the size of a 20 gallon tank)., with lots of climbing ladders or tubes.   Bedding of wood shavings or paper are great. They use it to make a deep sleeping spot. A hut or cardboard box will give them a safe place to make a nest.  Other things like paper tubes, an exercise wheel and climbing structures are great for them to explore. Hamsters are mostly nocturnal and do most of their activity at night. Give them a minute to wake up before you handle them. They eat seeds, fruit, and some vegetation. Most pet stores carry good quality premixed foods.
